The much anticipated sequel to Worlds Apart. If you have not read Worlds Apart I recommend that you read it before starting Hiding in Plain Sight. They are both so good! Only $.99 each.
~The Blurb~
Graham Reynolds has always taken on the role of the protector in his family. He's a hard working DEA agent but he has a secret that he's been keeping his whole life--he can jump to parallel universe. It's on one of these jumps that he faces an impossible dilemma. Will he make it in time to save his half sister from the wrath of a mad man? Will Graham be able to deal with the consequences of his actions?
Lily Bennett is the girl next door that Graham remembers as the shy, quiet childhood friend. All grown up, Lily is a powerful CFO of her family's business. Graham saved Lily once when they were children but now Lily may be the only one who can save Graham from his past. Will she be able to pull him out of his darkness and back to her or will he be forever hiding in plain sight?
~An Excerpt~
“Hi,” She
glanced up at Graham and slowly licked her bottom lip. Her eyes had gone
from a warm brown to a dark liquid color that threatened to drown
Graham. “Hi yourself,” he took a hold of her chin with his thumb
and traced a small circle on her jaw line. Bending his head, he
slowly brushed his lips on hers and was instantly met with a current that
seemed to stir him all the way to his stomach. He craved her like no
other, but also wanted to take his time and enjoy every curve of her soft
skin, every crease he needed to memorize.
He inhaled
her sweet smell and seemed to hold his breath as her scent filled every
inch of his being. With both of his hands free, he wrapped them
around her lower back and bunched a handful of material in his fist. Graham
pulled her into his body, feeling her warmth and softness, which
threatened to take all of his senses over the edge.
His tongue
joined hers and in a slow dance with one another’s mouths, he hungrily
deepened the kiss until he could hear his heart beating in his ears.
Graham could be satisfied kissing and drinking in her lips for days, but
Lily broke away from him slowly.

Hiding in Plain Sight by Kate Mathias
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
*4.5 Stars*
What a fantastic sequel. Even better than the first and the first was good already. Kate Mathias takes us on a journey that is out of this world in more ways than one.
Hiding in Plain Sight is the second book in The Silver Oaks series. The first book Worlds Apart is so different and interesting. It is different in the best possible way. You follow the story of Piper, Pip, and the Joes and their inter-connected lives. If you have not read Worlds Apart yet I recommend you read it before you read Hiding in Plain Sight, only because there is A LOT of background story that you might get little lost trying to figure out on your own.
Hiding in Plain Sight picks up exactly where Worlds Apart left off and then jumps 20 years in the future. We continue to follow the lives of Graham, Arie, Palmer, Pip, the Joes, and even the ever present Chad. We get to see how everyone has coped with Piper being gone. This story really demonstrates how everyone deals with loss in different ways. For some is easier to pick up the pieces and keep going while others struggle to not take the loss personally and feel abandoned. There are so many emotional levels to this story. It really grabs you and it’s hard to disconnect from it.
Graham is faced with a very difficult situation that leaves him uncertain if the career he chose is the right one. This leads to him being unfocused and causing his friend, Lance, to sustain an injury that he feels he is responsible for. Lily, Lance’s sister, has been Graham’s friend since childhood. When they reconnect they are immediately drawn to each other. She is exactly what Graham needs, even if he doesn't know it.
“I may have protected you all those years, but Lily, you’re the one that saved me. I didn’t even realize that I needed saving until you came along and opened my eyes”--Graham
“Sometimes even knights in shining armor need to be rescued too” – Lily
This story is even more intense than the first one. At one point is “jumping” crazy. It seems like everyone is “jumping” and the outcome of those jumps are uncertain. I loved getting to see the addition of other characters into the story. I am super excited for Cole and Brant!!! I think those two are going to bring some interesting twists to the next part of this story Spitfire. I can’t wait to see if/when Arie is going to be able to jump. I am anxiously awaiting the third book in this series!
