~Blurb~
I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.
He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.
My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

Fear of Falling by S.L. Jennings
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Author Disclaimer: Abuse is real- verbal, emotional, physical and sexual. It takes place all around us; it doesn’t discriminate against race or gender, wealth or poverty. It affects us all- those of us who’ve had to live through it, or watch it happen, even those of us who’ve only heard about it. We are all affected. We are all forever changed.
This is not a story for the faint of heart; this is the story of one woman’s very real struggle through a world against her, the people who hurt her, her real life demons and the people who showed her that every gray sky, no matter how dark, has a sun waiting to break through.

How do you help someone who doesn't want your help? Save someone who doesn't want saving? Love someone how doesn't think they deserve it?
These are questions that Fear of Falling makes you wonder about.
Kami has been through events in her life that no one should have to go through. These event have left her broken, lost, and with a crippling fear of EVERYTHING. One of her biggest fears is love because what she knows about love is that it brings pain and suffering.
Until Blaine...
Blaine is a sexy tattooed, tongue ring wearing bartender at Dive. He feels an immediate attraction to Kami and sparks fly after a round of very hot tequila shots but Kami is hesitant to start something knowing it won't go anywhere. But Blaine is very determine to show her that she can love and hopefully love him back.
Kami's friends, Angel and Dom, are her rocks and are the only people she can show affection to and the only people that she can accept it back from. The three of them each have there own dilemma and insecurities that hinder them from having normal relationships. Is their friendship the most healthy? I don't know.
Dom was one of my favorite characters and I'm anxious to see how his story will turn out.
Kami and Blaine's story is one hell of a roller-coaster ride that, at times, I wanted to get off.
Kami has SO many issues that I found myself not connecting with her character as much as I wanted to. Also she would contradict herself at every turn. Her heart said one thing but her mouth said another. It was a constant back and forth and got frustrating at time.
Blaine on the other hand has his own issue but didn't let them stop him from living his life. So, for me, it was easier to connect with him and what he was going through.
Overall I really enjoyed the story. I thought it was well written and a great story line with characters that make you feel their pain and want to comfort them. S.L. Jennings has another winner on her hands.
