“So, your place or mine?” Janie asked nervously as they left the parking lot. The butterflies in her stomach were starting a revolution as she took in the sexy profile of the man sitting to her left with one hand on the wheel and the other on her thigh. Was she really doing this? Not to mention, doing it with Max DeLucca?

Removing his hand from her leg, Max placed both hands on the steering wheel of his black Ferrari Spider. Janie held in the whimper that threatened to escape from the loss of his touch.

Max pulled over to the side of the road, and she felt the butterflies once again trying to take flight. Why was he stopping? Had he changed his mind?

“Janie,” he said, his voice strong but calm. “Janie, look at me. I need to see your eyes.” She looked into his grassy-green orbs. Callused fingers stroked her jaw, sending shivers through her body. “I won’t hurt you. Your body is safe with me. Do you understand?”

She wasn’t sure she did, but she nodded silently, the innocent, doe-eyed look on her face bringing out his every possessive instinct. “Words Janie, I need words,” Max demanded.

“I think I understand, Max.” She couldn’t help the breathless tone in her voice. “But what is this about?”

He inhaled, holding the air in his lungs for an extra second before letting it go, his eyes smoldering while his body still held the relaxed pose that had become so familiar to her. She could hear her own heart beating, and she could also hear it stop when the next statement left Max’s lips.

“I intend to fuck you tonight, Janie. I intend to fuck you very well. I am going to make you come in every way imaginable. With my fingers, my tongue, and my cock. I am going to do things to you that you and Lyla have only teased about at Danny’s, things that you have fantasized about, and things that have never even crossed your mind. You will have a say in whether or not we stop, but Janie, you will not have a say on whether it is your place or mine. Got it?”

She stared at Max her mouth formed an O. She was thoroughly and truly speechless. So she nodded again.

“Words, Janie. I need words.”

“Ok,” Her heartbeat started speeding up again as Max’s car did the same.

This book is one of those books that long after you have finished you catch yourself still thinking about the story and trying to figure out how it will end. Having said that yes there is a MAJOR cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

Kim did an awesome job telling the story of River and Dahlia. From their first encounter at a bar the connection that they shared was a once in a lifetime kind of thing that seemed to link their souls together forever.

"When our eyes connected it felt like minutes, in reality it was mere seconds. At that moment, something happened inside of me. The connection was like nothing I'd ever felt before. It was an electric pull that willed me in and forced me to keep looking at him."

So what's problem ? Dahlia had been with her boyfriend Ben since she can remember. Although she knows that she shares an incredible connection to River she knows she needs to walk away.

"For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn't. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else?"

Through some unbelievable twists and turns five years later River and Dahlia reconnect and their connection is just as strong if not stronger as that first encounter at the bar.

"Those lyrics tell the story Dahlia, our story. I wrote that song five years ago and even now when I song it, your face is the face I see. You are unforgettable Dahlia. You're perfect really."

SWOON!

There are some really STEAMY scenes that seem to last forever while you are reading yet you don't want them to end.

One of the best parts of the book for me was how Kim incorporated Jake Wethers from The Mighty Storm as well as Kellen Kyle from the D-Bags!
But more than that was how Kim used music to amplify feelings within the books it really was extraordinary.


So lets go back to the cliffhanger.
I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers, and this one was no exception. I wanted to throw my iPad but it also made me want to go stalk Kim to get her to write faster because I can't wait until Fall 2013!

We girls at the BBCC had the honor of interviewing Jared from the Dark Light series. I cannot start to tell you what a treat this was for us! Jared was more than willing to answer any questions that we could sum up. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as we enjoyed undressing him with our eyes....umm...I mean picking his brain about everything from working out to .... well the "hotter" things in his life.

Interview:

The four of us at Books, Babes and Cheap Cabernet are sitting on the couch in the rented hotel room we all traveled to Colorado Springs together to do this interview.

(We are all primping and doing make-up checks as we sit anxiously waiting for Jared to arrive the door opens and in walks Jared, we all sigh quietly. Karinna stares at his ripped body that is easily noticeable through his white t-shirt and giggles.)

Jared: What’s up, ladies. Thanks for having me. Not every day I get a request for an interview. Wow.

(Seriously, this guy doesn’t get requests for interviews? So hard to believe)

(Jared shakes all four of the girl’s hands)

(Bella speaks up first) “Thanks for being brave enough to take on four girls at once.” (Melissa and Yari snort out a laugh)

Jared: (laughs, running a hand through his messy hair) Yeah, uh, I have to say four would be a first for me. But I’m up for the challenge.

Bella: ok lets get started, (Melissa and Yari whisper and give an all knowing smile to each other, Bella clears her throat) Jared, have you always had feelings for Gabi?

Jared: I think I have. We were kids when we first met, you know, and while I was attracted to her then, I was too much of a dumb ass to act on it. I actually LIKED Gabs & at the time, I was a walking hormone. I didn’t want her to be just some girl I hooked up with.

(We decided that each of us having a turn would be the fair way to go, so Yari takes the floor next)

Yari: Why the sudden interest in telling her now?

J: I think we are both mature and old enough to deal with those feelings now. Plus I realized that life is short and our loved ones can be snatched away at any time. I didn't want another day to go by without her knowing how much I cared about her.

(Bella turns to the rest of the girls on the couch, smiles and looks back at Jared: giving him a dreamy look)

Melissa: So Jared, do tell me your thoughts on this Dorian guy?

J: I don’t exactly hate him, but I can’t say I like him either. And I know I don’t trust him. He has this look about him…real sneaky and slick like you know he’s up to something. And he’s a smooth talker too. I don’t particularly care for guys like that. Shit, I’ll say it…I think he’s a dick.

(*Karinna daydreaming* Yari elbows her and whispers, “It’s your turn stop drooling!”

Karinna blushes and smiles.)

Karinna: Hiiii...Do you view Dorian as competition?

J: I’d be stupid to say he wasn't  Gabs obviously is crazy about the guy. Yeah, that thought kills me but what can I do?

(We collectively tilt our head to the side and sigh out an, “Aww.”)

B: Jared, do you think that you will be able to maintain your friendship with Gabi, now that all of your feelings are out on the table?

J: I think we’ll always be in each other’s lives. But I can’t just be her friend. I’ll always feel this way about her. We can try to get back to where we were but I don’t think it will ever be the same. Too much has happened between us.

Y: What role do you see yourself playing in Gabi’s life since telling her how you really feel about her?

J: Shit, hopefully she comes to her senses and gives us a real shot. I won’t beg her and I won’t be some sucker that just let’s her walk over me. But I’ll always be here.

(Well if Gabi doesn’t come to her senses, I have a feeling any of the girls interviewing him will snatch up the chance)

M: What is going on between you and Aurora?

J: At this point in time? Nothing.

(Karinna perks up at that)

K: What is the first body part that comes to mind when you think about Gabi?

J: (laughs) Ok, I am going to avoid getting slapped by her and say her eyes. She has the most beautiful big hazel eyes. Oh, and her ass. She has an amazing ass.

(Karinna thinks, “he is so funny and cute.  I think I’m falling in love”)

B: Jared, if you had to pick a song to describe your relationship with Gabi, what would it be?

J: Honestly, I can’t even pinpoint one song. It really depends on the day. Some days it’s “In The End” by Linkin Park. Other days it’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye. The bad days, it’s “Sparks” by Coldplay  or “The Kill” by 30 Seconds to Mars. Today it’s “Friends, Lovers or Nothing” by John Mayer. I know it’s pathetic. But hey… I can’t help what I feel.

(Melissa claps her hands together)

M: Alright now to the fun stuff, do you listen to music when having sex? If so, who do you listen to?

J: Um, yeah, if it’s available. I don’t pick anything in particular. Like I don’t have a playlist labeled Let’s Get It On.

(All four girls giggle)

Y: Who is your favorite band?

J: Probably Linkin Park. And Fall Out Boy.

K: What do your tattoos mean, if anything? (snickers) And can we see??

J: Sure (strips off t-shirt slowly, and scoots closer to give the girls a better view and subtly flexes) I get stuff that’s meaningful to me. I have a piece for my mom, and a few random ones that are symbolic of something I’ve experienced in life. An ode to triumphs, milestones…heartbreak.

(Karinna is fanning herself and can’t seem to pay attention to anything else around her)

B: So...How often do you work out?

(Karinna interjects,) “And can we see the results?” (she’s shooting for a naked Jared, I think the girls are all on board)

J: I’m already shirtless. You want me to lose the pants too? (umm…YEAH!)

(laughs) I mean, between soccer and weights, I go pretty hard with work outs. I have to. Probably a good 6 days a week of some type of physical training.

M: What is your favorite sexual position?

J: I’m a pretty tall guy so anytime the chick is on top of me, taking control, riding me…shit. I love it.

(*SWOON*)

Y: In keeping theme with Melissa’s question, How many girls have you slept with?

J: Wow, uh...um, I...let’s just say less than twenty.

B: Favorite body part on any woman?

J: I guess I am an ass man. But I love the shape and feel of a woman’s lips. Makes me want to trace them with my tongue. (blushes) Sorry, if that was too much.

(Karinna smiles and says,) “no that’s just enough”

K: And last but not least...Wanna grab something to eat after this?

J: (gives her a boyish grin and chuckles) Sure. I could definitely eat.

(Karinna Blushes)

Yari: On behalf of all of us thank you for sitting down and answering some crazy questions (laughs)

Jared: Thank you so much for having me, ladies. It’s been fun. (Looks to Karinna & winks) Ready to get outta here, babe?

Karinna: Absolutely (Smiles)

4.5 AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL STARS!! Teresa Mummert does it again people! I was totally captivated from the first sentence!

This is how I'm felling right now about Suicide Note



Suicide Note is a beautiful story about picking up the pieces of a life we knew, and learning to love again.

Jenn:



Mummert really makes you feel everything that Jenn is feeling... loneliness, betrayal, even a certain kind of hopelessness. We are taken on this journey with Jenn as she finds out that she isn't really broken at all. There were just certain things in her life that needed to be removed in order for the right pieces to fit together.

Shane:



Ohhh Shane... I have to stay he has now moved into the current "book boyfriend" spot. I just couldn't get enough of him throughout the story. He was a sweet, loving , protective, manly man... In the words of Rachel Ray.....YUM-O! Another great character that was nicely developed, and his feelings were as real as the words on the page.

Don't miss out on Suicide Note, it is definitely bound to be a favorite for 2013!
