EXCERPT

My eyes go wide when she mentions that she’s dating someone. I’ve never been one to step on another man’s toes, but there’s just something about this girl. She gets me in some way. I don’t care whose she’s dating. She said recently and to me that means not serious. Blake starts bouncing in her seat as “Lil’ Freak,” by Usher and Niki Minaj starts playing over the loud speakers. Reaching for her hand, I pull her up off the couch and guide her towards the dance floor. “Come on, let’s dance.”

“Okay but where’s Dean?” she asks looking around for him. I point to another couch close to ours where he sits talking with a red head that keeps running her hand up and down his arm. “I think he’s a little preoccupied right now,” I say, pulling Blake further out onto the dance floor. Grabbing onto her hips, I pull her into me. The lights in the glass floor below us pulse in time with the beat. Blake’s body goes stiff as I try to get her to loosen up. Placing my lips close to her ear, I say, “It’s just dancing, Blake.” Nodding, she leans in close to my ear. Her warm breath rushes out as she says, “You’re right. Let’s dance.” Turning in my arms, her back to my front, she begins rubbing her ass against my dick while the bass of the song moves through our bodies. Sliding down my front and then back up slowly, her back glides against the bulge in my pants.

Splaying my right hand across her stomach, I hold her tightly against me, grinding into her from behind. Using my left hand, I run my fingers up her ribs and down the inside of her arm, leaving a trail of goose bumps behind. I reach for her hand and guide her arm up and around my neck. Her head falls back against my chest. With her eyes closed, she rocks into me, matching my rhythm. I lean my head down, inhaling her seductive scent. Skimming the tip of my nose up and down her neck, I reach her ear and nibble on her lobe. I whisper to her, “Be my lil’ freak.” A soft moan escapes her as I pull her tighter against me, molding our bodies together. “Will you be my lil’ freak, Blake?” I ask huskily.

Okay so here it goes…
What???...NO!!!...Really?!?
That ending. Holy mother of cliffhangers! My heart is literally in my throat. Definitely a MuST READ. It is such an amazing, funny, flirty, deeply emotional, passionate story of love lost and found. It has you loving some of the characters and rooting for them, while despising others and making you a little crazy with rage.
I want to acknowledge and thank Facebook for being able to bring people together. By providing a means for people to reconnect after years of lost contact, forever changing their lives.
Schooner has been lost for 24 years. He was stuck in a loveless marriage that he has stayed out of duty to his children, who are the most important thing in his life. While at his 43 birthday party, completely disconnected from everything and everyone, Schooner hears a name that he thought he would never hear again…Mia Silver. Just hearing her name stirred up all sorts of feelings that he thought were long buried.
24 years after having dated during their freshman year in college, Schooner friend requests Mia on Facebook on a whim. A request that Mia readily accepts and they start to reconnect immediately.
This event forever changes their lives.
Schooner once made a vow to himself, little did he know how true those words would prove to be.
“Your first and you last, Baby Girl, Schooner vowed to himself. Your first and your last”
While trying to rekindle the relationship that they once had, their world gets turned upside down. The road to happiness is not an easy one. They have to deal with the past, exes, children, insecurities…just to name a few. Will their love be enough? I guess we will find out.
The characters in this story are completely relatable, funny, passionate, and smart. I found myself laughing and crying alongside them. I really couldn’t ask for anything more. (Well maybe for Julie A. Richman to give me MoRE Schooner and Mia soon!!!) I am anxiously awaiting Book 2, like NOW.

Blog tour: A Life More Complete by Nikki Young

A Life More Complete

The Excerpt:

“Ben?” I call quietly. He rounds the corner a few seconds later.Standing in the doorway to the kitchen wearing boxer briefs. He looks tired andruns his hand through his hair. When his eyes finally meet mine his mouth fallsopen in surprise and I run to him. I jump into his arms wrapping my legs aroundhis waist. I can’t stop kissing him, my lips press firmly against his, mytongue moving with ease in his mouth. I run my hands through his hair and downhis chest and back up again. He sets me on the table and I part my legs toallow him closer to me. He attempts to pull away, but I tighten my grip on himand continue assaulting him with my mouth and hands. When the urgency finallysubsides, my kisses turn slower and softer. He presses his forehead to mine, his hands on either side of my face, his eyes closed as he breathes heavily.

“I’m glad to see you, too,” he whispers.

My heartbeat quickens and my stomach flutters. I can’t hold backany longer and the words slowly roll off my tongue, “I love you.”

“What?” he nearly gasps. He steps back slightly and a smile buildsas the shock of it all fades away.

“You heard me.”

“Say it again.”

“I love you.” I smile and pull him to me, kissing his neck.

“God damn! Took you long enough!”

“Six years. Why’d you wait on me?”

“Krissy, I knew the moment I met you that I loved you. I’m drawn toyou like never before. My dad told me once that I’d know, but I thought he wasfull of shit. He was so right.”

“I’m sorry I made you wait.” I breathe out.

“It was worth every second,” he mutters as he leans down to kissme. His lips linger softly against mine before pulling away. I tilt my headback exposing my neck to him and he follows my cue. I stop breathing as the tipof his tongue traces my jaw and his lips glide down my neck. I breathe in hard;my fingers ache to touch him as I pull him in closer.“Not here,” he whispers inmy ear and a shiver of pleasure fills my body. He lifts me from the table, hishands gripping me tightly and I need this more than anything. When his bodycovers mine, my need only grows. Ben’s hands follow the curves of my body andwith every touch his fingers leave my skin aching for more. When he’s finallyinside me, my body is so sensitive, so acutely aware of his every movement thatit takes only seconds for me to lose myself in him. All the insecurities thatplague my life fall away and I can’t remember ever feeling this free, thissafe…this loved.

Kitchen Affairs by Brooke Cumberland- Review

*Review with Spoilers*
*4 out of 5 Stars*
Kitchen Affairs was a fun, cute, steamy read. The book literally jumps right in from the first page.
We meet Molly, who is a single mom, on her last semester of cooking school. She is doing her internship at the Riverside Restaurant. She is being pursued by Drake Stagliano, the manager of the Riverside Restaurant.
“I had done my research before accepting the internship, and knew of the Stagliano family. I also knew Drake was a ladies man and extremely powerful. And mostly, he is incredibly intimidating. And hot.”
Molly is apprehensive to accept the advances that Drake has made. She had suffered the loss of her fiancé three years prior and was not sure if she was ready to move on just yet.
“After the pain and heartbreak I went through, I’ve protected myself from ever being hurt again and feeling the pain I once felt. And the only way to do that was to keep men out of my life until I was emotionally ready to take the risk again.”
After some coercing from Drake, Molly agrees to dinner. And finds that maybe she is able to connect with someone else in an emotionally and romantic way.
“He accidentally graced my hand as he was reaching for his glass. The slightest touch of him and I could feel butterflies and goose bumps. It was an innocent touch, but in that moment, I finally realized I could have feelings for someone else besides Liam.”
She realized that she felt a connection to this man that she couldn’t deny.
“He stared at me like he was seeing right through me. I was starting to see another side to this man; a man I think I could really like. Maybe love. He was being kind, sweet, responsive to my answers, and seemed to have a keen interest in me. It was overwhelming. I barely knew this man, yet I was ready to dig my teeth into him.”
And sink her teeth into him she did…
“As I slammed the refrigerator door shut, I heard a quiet knock at my door. Startled, I looked around to see if I had been hearing things. Who the hell is at my door at this hour? I placed the glass down on the counter and walked to the door. As I opened it, my eyes met his. Drake. He didn’t move. I was just about to ask what he was doing here, when he suddenly interrupted my thoughts.  “Fuck the rules.” He slammed my body against the wall and kissed me passionately letting me know I was his in that very moment. I surrendered and wrapped my arms around him. His stubble brushed against my face as his lips covered mine. He grabbed my hips and lifted me up off the ground wrapping my legs around his waist. I felt him take one hand off me and slam the door shut. He started walking, realizing he had no idea where my bedroom was. “To the right,” I said between breaths as he stumbled through the hall.”
Wowza!! Yes Please!!!
They start dating and fall madly in love very quickly.
“Love anchors the soul…” I mumbled. “As long as you are mine, we will never sink,” he continued.
They were thrown into a media nightmare, when photos were leaked of them in very compromising positions. This chaotic event is very hard on Molly as her fellow interns make her life even harder. Through this ordeal Molly relies on her friend Travis, a single dad and classmate, who has feelings for Molly.
“I don’t just have feelings for you Molly. I’m in love with you. I haven’t stopped thinking about you since the day we bumped into each other at the café. You are always on my mind. I’m sorry I crossed a line. If all we can be is friends, then I’ll take it. I’ll take you anyway I can get you.-Travis”
A roller coaster of events unleashes an avalanche effect on the lives of Molly and Drake. This leaves them having to sort through feelings of loss, regret, despair, confusion, understanding and trust.
The book was a bit choppy in parts, and left me with many questions. Questions specifically geared towards Drake and his whereabouts during a 3 week period. Also, what was his reasoning for lack of communication with Molly towards the end of the book? But overall, I really enjoyed the book. It had some very nice steamy scenes that were a nice addition to the story. it and want to know what’s to come for Molly and Drake.

I loved it!!! I literally couldn't put it down!
This book grabs you from the very first page!

I particularly liked how it starts with the very first letters that Grace and Noah exchanged. This set the pace for the rest of the book for me.

When I read the synopsis for this book, I was a little apprehensive to start it. Not because I thought I wouldn't like it, but because I was scared to know why Noah stopped writing. His reasonings were not what I expected.

Can you love someone you never met? And when they break all contact, can you feel like your entire world has been shifted on its axis and you no longer know which way is up and which way is down?

The answer to both questions is a resounding YES , as Grace shows us in "Undeclared".

For four years Grace and Noah exchanged letters. They were both looking forward to Noah's end of his tour when they could FINALLY meet. But when Noah realizes that his life is not where it needs to be in order to have someone like Grace by his side, he cuts off all communication.

"Was I supposed to show up at her door with my rucksack and say, 'I am a fucking mess. I can't sleep. I jump at loud noises. I'm likely to strangle your cat if you have one.'"

This leaves Grace a shell of a person full of uncertainty with no direction in which way she wants her life to go. She can't even pick a major.

But two years later when Noah transfers to Central and seeks her out, Grace doesn't understand what his motives are. She loves him but thinks that Noah only sees her as a "friend". Noah will take whatever he can get; if it's just a friendship he will take that... For now.

"Why seek me out at all?" I asked.

"I think you may have got from my letters I don't have a lot of family. You were the only one who wrote me for my entire deployment, and any good memories I have of those four years are tied with you, Grace. How could I not come here?"

OH! My heart melted <3

Grace was still apprehensive, but willing to give "friendship" a chance.

Speaking of friendships, Noah and Bo have been friends since 7th grade. They enlisted together, left the military together, and transferred to Central together. Bo is Noah's rock. More family than Noah's own father. Bo is not convinced that Grace is the right person for Noah. Bo sees the differences in them; where Noah has his whole future mapped out, Grace's is still up in the air. Bo has one of those strong silent personalities most of the time, but every now and then he provides some comedic relief...

"I think you're supposed to take your girlfriend to an erotic film, not your best male friend," Bo commented. "Unless you're trying to tell me something, in which case I have to tell you that I'm flattered, but I play for the other team." :)

Noah fights sanctioned and unsanctioned fights, because he likes the adrenaline rush, but more importantly because it provides a means to achieve his ultimate goals. Be successful and have Grace.

"It was a good thing i only needed a few hours of sleep a night. My nights would now be spent trying to figure out how to get a woman I care about into my corner, rather than the best way to take an opponent to the mat"

Do they overcome their obstacles and are FINALLY together?

You have to read to find out, but I will say this... My favorite quote from the book was this,

"Magnets can be reversed but for some their attraction is so strong, they can't be kept apart"
:)
